Nice saw but needs proper re-assembly.

The parts and specs are pretty good for most DYI jobs, but you may need to align the saw blade/motor with the table when you get it new out of the box. If the blade is not 100% aligned with the table top grid lines then you can't make a straight cut and that's when you will drag against the blade and stop it if cutting larger tiles. (if you see this, STOP immediately and either return the saw or adjust it as below)
If you remove the blade completely, loosen the 4 motor bolts hidden behind it, and then adjust the one phillips head bolt at the bottom of the saw to align the blade with the table top grid lines, you will have a perfect tile saw. Remember to tighten the adjust bolt first, then the 4 bolts at the blade side. Otherwise, good luck, you might get lucky and get one that's assembled properly in China... maybe.
Make sure to install the edge guide perfectly on the 0" grid lines for blade alignment and you'll be golden, really the major components are not bad, just assembly is shoddy.

actually worth buying

i rate this based on cost. it can cut straight and is easy to use. ryobi has $200-300 sliding saws that are a bit more powerful but actually can't cut as straight and this cheap little table saw.

Not sure yet if this is a keeper

I purchased this saw to replace an equally inexpensive 4 1/2" saw that I have had for over 10 years. After making a few cuts in 12"x12" ceramic tile for my first easy project with the new saw (Sauna floor, perfectly rectangular), I can say that it got the job done, but the blade more than once ground to a halt. The problem is that the motor is not strong enough to properly drive the 7" blade. A smaller blade would have more leverage and go through hard stuff better. I used to cut quarry tile with my old saw and I don't see this happening with this model. I will be cutting granite in a few weeks and will post an update here.
Setup was easy with the exception of the metal bracket that holds the water shield that needs to be inserted into the blade slot and screwed in place from below. This was not clear from the instructions, but ended up to be the only possible way of putting it together.
