Awesome little product

I have used and abused Shop-Vac systems for several years, including the blue Lowe's version (5.5HP) of this product. The little 5 gallon portable has become my "go-to" vacuum for most remodeling and automotive chores around the house.
The product performs very well. Four stars only to reflect frustration with Shop-Vac's seeming unwillingness to clarify the available higher-quality attachments, and/or requiring an adapter for some attachments on the 1.5" hose, and/or annoyances like the discontinuation of the best-fitting dust bags. (You get the feeling that this must be the stepchild of the product line, when I feel it is one of the more all-around useful versions in the series).
But these are minor complaints in the grand scheme. When the time came to outfit a second house, I transferred the original Lowe's unit to the beach - still going strong - and purchased this upgraded "professional" unit (6.5HP) for the primary residence. I use these things several times a week(end) at whichever location, and I sometimes wonder how I ever got along without them.
I really like this system, and with a little finesse, you can put together a "perfect" vacuum for your requirements.
Obviously, it works wet or dry. It is compact, suction is good, and the 1.5" hose is a perfect diameter for a portable, i.e., big enough to handle occasional larger bits, without being a pain to move around. Some (like the Professional version) come with a wall-mount option.
There are three options for the primary filter cartridge - an entry-level suitable for most dust, an upgraded "Ultraweb" for finer dust and wet or dry pickup, and a high-end HEPA dust filter (which is excellent). There are two flavors of bags - basic dust collection, or one that is rated for fine particles like drywall dust. Combine the HEPA cartridge with the fine-dust bags, and zero drywall dust leaves the unit - trust me on this.
If you buy a lower-end model than the Professional version, I do strongly suggest upgrading the hose to the 9057300 "Quattro Flex Hose" when the original cheapie wears out - the Quattro hose is much higher quality, stretches lengthwise, and is just far easier and more enjoyable to use (such as when vacuuming out a larger vehicle).
Shop-Vac does not make it easy to identify these higher-end components (cartridge, bags, hose), but they are available, and they work very well.
Other than the questionable accessories strategy (exacerbated by a so-so corporate website), Shop-Vac service has been excellent. A motor failure on a on a heavy-duty 16 gallon Shop-Vac unit resulted in an immediate, no-questions-asked replacement sent to my home (the unit was about 4 years old, still under warranty).
I strongly recommend the product. The unit itself is easily five stars - I've given four stars ONLY because of the slack accessory strategy. Buy with confidence.

Shop Vac 5 gallon 6.5HP Professional Vacum

I bought this Shop Vac to use cleaning my cars and travel trailor. It works perfectly. I like the ability to hand carry. Purchased 1.25" hose to replace 1.5" hose it came with because of limited avilabilty of accessories for the 1.5" hose plus I already had 1.25" accessories for the shop vac I already own. In addition after researching costs I found that 1.25" accessories are cheaper. This vacum has all the suction you will ever need. I have no complaints with this product.

Love this vac. Light weight and easy to handle. Great suction! The holder is great idea, I just attached it to the side of the cabinets in the garage and it's out of the way and off the ground. Worth the price.
