5The near-perfect shop vac for everything
By William Spillman
I've been getting by with a little 1-gallon 2-hp shop vac for years and finally decided to get a full-size one. The two-in-one design of this one seemed too good to be true, but I got it, and it's just as good as I'd hoped.

The mini-vac pops in and out easily, you just pop two catches and lift it by the handle, then plug in the 1.5-inch hose. You can leave the big 2.5-inch hose attached to the big tank at all times, though the mini-vac has a 2.5-inch port (the smaller hose has an adapter built in). When you finish with the little vac, remove the hose, drop it back in its spot, and close the catches (I find the best way is give them a smack from both sides at once, like I'm boxing the vacuum's ears, to get them to latch). The caddy holds all the tools and the extra hose if you do it right.

I've only found two flaws with this vacuum, both pretty minor. One flaw is that the cord wrap on the back of the little vac is useless. It's too small to hold the entire cord, and if you wrap it wrong, it holds the mini-vac into the big tank. Instead, I wind the cord around the top of the mini-vac, which works perfectly. The cord wrap hooks should have been designed to help with this technique to begin with.

The other flaw is that, while the caddy rolls well on carpet and smooth floors, if it hits a bump, the little wheels stop dead. The big hose screws onto the big tank, so you can tow the vacuum around by it normally, but if you hit a bump, the hose itself can pop out of the collar on either end. You just shove it back in, of course, but it's kind of annoying. I don't see this being any different on any other vacuum with a caddy, though.

I've used the mini-vac for several things, including vacuuming out the car, and the only issue it had was that it was so much more powerful than I was used to, it often sucked up things I thought were outside sucking range. I used the big tank to vacuum after cleaning my carpets, and boy did it work well! The smaller wide attachment sucked itself onto the carpet so hard it could stand itself up, so long as I held it at the right angle to start with.

Honestly, the power and versatility of this vacuum are so great I don't understand why anyone would buy another full-size shop vac that doesn't have the mini-vac, especially since this one costs the same or even less than other 5+ HP vacuums.

5shop vac hp vac- wet/dry vacuum
By Rose Madurski
when we got hit with the remnants of 2 hurricanes here, our basement started to flood and our other vacuum died on us, so we had to get something in a hurry..all the local stores were sold out, so i ordered this one and we used it. does the job so far..time will tell if it will last as long as our old one did...

3sucks good, wears out quickly
By Don Holmes
The only concern is how to obtain warranty for products. I will try to update if or when it gets fixed. Has not been used much and died with light use. Hope I can get service without waiting too long or having shipping or transportation costs. Used only for dry pick up from my table saw.
