Great Vacuum just what I was looking for!
By Duck Girl
This is a great little all purpose vacuum. Just as the Technical Detail and the manufacturers website state it has a 15 Foot Cord W/ Automatic Rewind. I could not find information on Amazon about what filters and bags it required so I emailed Vacmaster and recieved a prompt response. If you are looking for fine dust filtration for this unit, this unit simply requires the standard cartridge filter (VFCF) in combination with the collection bag (VFDB) for fine dust vacuuming. The Vacmaster VF408 unit has a separate HEPA filter on it which is (VFHF). This filter is a small square filter that fits separately from the cartridge filter. The VFHF HEPA filter should always be in place on this unit. These filters can be purchased from Amazon or by calling Vacmaster.

Very pleased
By Paul
I've had this vacuum for several months now and I'm very pleased with it. If you're just looking for a shop vac, you can probably do better. If you're just looking to vacuum carpets, you can certainly do better. I was looking for BOTH features in one vacuum and I didn't want to spend hundreds for it. My basement is half "finished" with a carpeted office and half "unfinished" where I have my workshop. I wanted a single shop/carpet vac for the basement and this one does a good job at both. It has plenty of suction, doesn't require an extension cord like other shop vacs I've owned, and it's light enough to carry in my hand when I vacuum the basement stairs.
A very good value for the money.

This sucks like nothing like regular vac. It'll eat large nails.
By Are you KIDDING??
Mine did not arrive yet but I was impatient.. so I had to go to a local vac store to play with it. It's quite sturdy built. It's not a Mercedes but, if you are familiar with Shop-Vac brand of recent years, it's kinda like that. It is NOT finished like department store hoover or eureka (shiny and all that), but it gives "kick me and i won't break" feel.
Now. About suction.. or I say sucking power. It sucks better than my 16gallon shop-vac. Amount of air it can move is NOT even in the same level with those department store canisters. It can be used for shampooing carpet. May be not commercially. But it does NOT compare to regular vacuum in terms of amout of air it can hold.
I don't know where the other reviewer got the idea that this doesn't have a whole lotta suction power. But that is completely contrary to what I experienced.
They sell this in Best Buy, Sears, and/or some Home Depots. Just go to one of them and stick your palm on the air inlet and ask one of those folks to plug-in/turn it on for you.
