Great little vac--I definitely recommend
By Kellie
Love this little vacuum. I got the 2.5 gallon model two years ago to clean up leaves and wood debris that accumulate on the floor near the doors of our wood stove when we add wood. My upright vac clogged easily when I tried to pick up these things, and its HEPA filters would fill up quickly from the fine dust that accumulates around the wood stove. I needed a vacuum that could handle both well. This little Shop Vac did the trick.
I've found it handy for many other jobs as well. I use it for any dry spill around the house when I need a quick fix (e.g., spilled glitter, sugar, potting soil, etc.). It's lightweight and easily carried about. I keep it hanging on a wall near the utility room and just grab it as needed and hang it back up. I love that I don't have to worry about a HEPA filter clogging or wonder if the debris is too much for the vac to handle.
I also love it for suctioning dust from window sills. I use it around base boards, corners, shelves, tight spaces, and other places where handling an upright vac hose is a hassle.
The exhaust blower is also useful. I use it outdoors occasionally to blow dust and debris from things like the filters in my A/C window units. Sure, I could suction that stuff, but using the exhaust feature outdoors means that I don't have the added step later of emptying the debris from the Shop Vac.
My 80-year-old mom has this vac and loves it for the same reasons that I do. She has back problems, and upright vacuums are hard on her back. This little vac is just right to carry around the house for spot cleaning.
I haven't used the wet pick up option, so I don't know how well that operates.
PROS:
--Lightweight
--Hangs on a wall
--Easy to carry
--Picks up larger debris and fine dust equally well
--Great for the car, too
CONS:
--6 foot cord is not enough
--Doesn't come with a strap so the user can carry it on his/her shoulder
TIPS:
--have an extension cord on hand for the vac unless you plan to use it in a really limited space (e.g., a work desk)
--buy extra filters when you purchase it if you plan to use it a lot as I do. Saves trips to the store later. Filters can be used a long time though if you shake them out well.
--consider buying the tools designed for electronics if you will use it in really tight spaces and crevices (I love these for cleaning the car)
I find the 6-foot cord impractical. It's my only big complaint. It really needs a 10-foot cord. I keep an extension cord with mine all the time and that works fine.
Also, I wish the vac came with a carrying strap so that I could carry it on my shoulder. The unit has a hard plastic handle for carrying, but it must be carried with one hand. I like to use the vac to reach high places where I can't leave the unit on the floor. I'm often using the wand with one hand and need the other hand to move objects (or hold a ladder), but it's occupied with the unit itself. I've rigged up a carrying strap for the unit, but it would make more sense for Shop Vac to just provide a strap.
Despite the cons, I love this little vac. Makes a great gift for anyone, but especially a person who:
-- has physical limitations and needs a light vacuum for spot cleaning
-- cleans larger debris or very fine debris that an upright won't handle
-- likes convenience and portability
Bottom line: I highly recommend it.

handy powerful little vac for home/car cleanup
By M. Hoffman
I have a large Shop Vac which is a real hassle to use for cleaning out the car and quick pickups on carpet spills. By contrast, I grab this little gem, with a short extension cord and it has MORE THAN ENOUGH power to pickup anything. Cleans up wet carpet spills thoroughly. Great for car interiors, can literally hold onto the handle and hose simultaneously and it does not then tip over like the big vac. Seems to be generally well built and very powerful for such a small vac. For what I paid ($20), it is a true bargain. Would buy again.

Good For What?
By Grouchy Old Man
Bought this vac thinking it was a good brand.
-Hose so stiff and short the machine is on top of you when in use
-Electrical cord so short you have to drag around an extension cord
-Tools didn't even include a brush
-Filter so difficult to wrap around the foam filter you need 2 people or 4 hands to get it on properly
-So flimsy it falls over when you try to use the stiff hose
-Other than that it cost me a trip to UPS and money to return it.
It shows that you get what you pay for!
Thank You for "listening"--I feel better now.Shop-Vac 5890200 2.5-Gallon 2.5-Peak HP HangOn Wet/Dry Vacuum
