5GREAT ACCESSORY KIT!!
By A Customer
I have an older model Porter Cable vacuum. (model #7810) After having the vacuum for a while, I liked it so much that I wanted to get an accessory kit so that I could do a few more things with it than just using it primarily as a dust collector for my sander. I bought the 78110 accessory kit about three months ago, and since then have been completely satisfied with it. The thing I like most about it is that it has metal extensions rather than just plastic extensions like many of the other competitors. The different brushes and wands have enabled me to use this for a ton of different applications ranging from vacuuming my car to cleaning up some of my furniture. Overall, this has been a great investment for me! Great job Porter Cable!

5You need these with your PC Vacuum. (UPDATED)
By AgedWireHead
UPDATED REVIEW: I just purchased another of these kits, and PC has made several improvements over earlier models. Most significant is that the plastic insert in the tube is no longer an insert, but a band that surrounds the end of the tube, with friction nubs that fit through unseen holes in the end of the tube. The tubes fit well, and the design seems to avoid tubes getting stuck together (time will tell).

The crevasse tools is also different. It is about 1 1/4" inches shorter than the original, slightly thicker at the tip (1/2 inch now, 7/16 inch before) and not as wide at the tip as before. I can't tell it makes much difference.

A significant improvement in this kit is in the hard floor attachment. This unit now has both nylon brush and squeegee inserts that snap in and out. The original unit came with only squeegee inserts.

I still don't understand the long (multi-purpose) brush. It does not seem to be improved and the only thing it seems to do well is vacuum dust and chips off of my workbench. It will brush the dust off a wall, and I use it for that regularly, but the ergonomics seem wrong to me. It isn't very useful in cleaning my stationary tools. It is also very easy to misplace it.

I have bumped up my rating of this kit to 5 stars. The original has lasted 15 or 20 years and is still going strong (except for the squeegee inserts). This seems pretty good to me, and with the improvements it is probably worth more than 4. I would give it 4.5 if I could.

NOTE: This accessory set has ends that are about 1 3/8 inches in diameter. Lots of household vacuums seem to use 1 1/4 inch diameter ends. Other shop vacs use larger diameters, e.g., 2 1/2 inches. PC makes a hose end that replaces the normal 1-3/8 inch end with a 1-1/4 inch outside diameter and 1 inch inside diameter flexible rubber end. This makes the vacuum hose work with the PC palm sanders, for example (1 inch diameter), but it also makes things like upholstery brushes from household vacuums work with the PC vacuum, but not with this set, as the adapter screws to the end of the hose, not onto one of the tubes. There is an adapter available from Amazon that will accomplish this for this set:

Fein 921072K13 Step Adaptor

Also, there is another hard floor attachment available on Amazon that is almost identical to the one in this kit, but it only has natural bristle brushes which seem especially good for wood floors.

Deluxe Hard Floor Brush, replacement for Miele and Bosch Canister Vacuums.

Hope this helps!

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
I love my 2 Porter Cable vacuums, and this tool set is very useful with them. The tools are very serviceable and last a long time if you avoid driving over them. Here are my rather minor complaints: The tubes tend to stick together after the joints get dusty and worked against each other. Regularly clean the joints whenever you separate them, and avoid excessively pushing them together. A plastic insert in one end of the tube is the part that gets worn. The thin metal tube will wear on its leading edge if you rub it against concrete as you vaccuum.

The wide floor tool has a squeegee in it, not a brush, so it works well when picking up spills. To my surprise it also works well for dust on concrete and wood floors. The crevasse tool works as one would expect. The long brush has bristles that I find to be too stiff, and the angle the hose enters the brush is not at all ergonomic.

Porter cable greatly improved their vacuum models over the first model (which I also own) but they have made no noticeable change in this tool set.

4Works great. Additional info and tips
By Mark Diaz
I purchased the accessory kit when I bought the 7810 vacuum several years ago and have been very satisfied.

Not mentioned in the product description, the floor tool comes with two sets of inserts (at least when I bought it), one for dry and one for wet. No instructions, but with a little thinking the grooves on the wet inserts need to be facing outwards on both front and back. After you use it for wet work, separate the metal tubes and let them dry or they will get stuck together (a bit of wax on the metal parts where they mate might help with this).

Besides in the shop, I do all the household vacuuming with these accessories. The floor tool does not work well on carpet (not designed for it and I don't have any), but does an excellent job on hardwood floors and tile. I also use them when scrubbing the tile floors in the kitchen and bathrooms to suck up the soapy water, then again after rinsing with clean water.
