St. Clair Shores resident arrested in case of body parts dumped along roadway - Detroit Free Press

A 59-year-old St. Clair Shores resident has been arrested in connection with body parts foundin garbage bags dumped in St. Clair County this week.

The suspect, who was not named and has not been arraigned, was arrested Friday, according to a news release sent today from the St. Clair Shores police and St. Clair County Sheriff's Office.

The dismembered remains, found in rural parts of St. Clair and China townships, were identified by the FBI through fingerprints as belonging to a 32-year-old St. Clair Shores man, who was reported missing on Sunday, the release said. His name is being withheld pending notification of family.

Police had been searching for a heavy-set middle-aged white woman, who was seen dumping garbage from her SUV in that area on Thursday. Bags containing human remains or clothing and charred papers were found in numerous locations, authorities said.

After arresting the suspect, investigators from both departments searched two locations in St. Clair Shores, one in the 22000 block of Rosedale and another in the 23000 block of Gary Lane, police said.

"The Michigan State Police Crime Lab assisted investigators processing the residences for evidence associated with the homicide and dismemberment of the 32-year-old male," the statement said, noting that the evidence has been taken to the Michigan State Police crime lab in Sterling Heights.

The suspect is being held at the St. Clair Shores Police Department, pending a review of a warrant request on Monday by the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office, police said.
