Former Chicago Mayor Richard Daley Hospitalized - kvor

(CHICAGO) -- Former Chicago Mayor Richard Daley was hospitalized after feeling ill upon his return from a business trip on Friday.

Daley, 71, remains in Northwestern Memorial Hospital's intensive care unit, according to a hospital statement. He was taken by ambulance after arriving from Arizona, and is undergoing monitoring and evaluation. Daley's family is visiting him between tests.

Jacquelyn Heard, an aide of the former mayor and a spokeswoman for Katten Muchin Rosenman law firm, told the Chicago Tribune that Daley's children insisted he go to the hospital. He started feeling ill during a conference with members of the law firm on Friday afternoon.

Daley served as Chicago's mayor from 1989 to 2011. His previous hospitalizations included a stay after he passed out from flu dehydration in 2002 and another where he lost his balance and felt lightheaded while at a restaurant.
