3+ Amps, not the 6 Amps advertised here
By TJ
Gave it 4 stars because I believe this is not SEARS fault.
The Sears 10 in Bench Drill Press is actually a little over 3 amps. Not the 6 amps as advertised here! This is No fault of Sears making this claim, its just that this particular listing has it totally wrong.
While it is quite normal for a low power rating on this size and priced drill press, the claim of 6 amps is false and should be corrected.
I am not saying the tool is not good for the price, but 3 + amps are usually only good for light to moderate shop use while a 6 amp machine is much more suited to a heavy duty work load, but is also set at a much higher price point.
I only say this because I was looking for a small drill press and then have it dedicated to some smaller and lighter shop tasks for my carpentry business, custom rigged only to bore for cup hinges on cabinet doors (this model is still under consideration). When I saw the power output in this price range I knew it could not be accurate and I simply don't want others being mislead.
Even saw an online review that based its result on this almost x2 inflated power rating, and that's how I ended up here.
hope this helps
