2Not an accurate saw
By Mark
This saw had a lot of good things going for it but sadly, is not as good as people claim it is. The detent system on this saw is JUNK! It's held in by a plastic lever that flexes A LOT. When you snap the saw into a detent, the saw will still move about a degree either way so you have no idea if you're exactly on the angle you want. For example, if I put the saw on the 90 detent, it will still move in the detent so the saw could be shy of 90, slightly over 90, or on 90. You'll never know due to all the slop in the detent. I called Bosch about this and even made a video to show them what was going on and they said it was normal and that I need to develop a way to make it consistent like always bringing the saw into the detent the same way. Really?! For $500, I expect better than that and other saws I've used have ROCK SOLID detents that let you know that when you're in the detent, you will get the angle you want.

Beyond the detent system, I couldn't get accurate cuts on one side of the saw. When using the detents, I could get close to 90(again, not perfect or consistent due to cheap plastic detent system), and 45 left, but no where near 45 right. I would be at least 2 degrees off when trying to cut a 45 angle to the right of the saw. If I tried to correct it, the 45 left and 90 would be off. Clearly, this saw has problems.

After reading all the good reviews on this saw, I expected WAY more than what I got. For Bosch to say there was nothing wrong with the way the detent system works is a joke. For them to say I needed to adjust to the saw was an even bigger joke. This saw might be close enough for contractors or carpenters but for fine woodworking and furniture building, it's NOWHERE NEAR accurate enough. Perhaps I got a lemon with regards to how I couldn't get accurate cuts on one side, but considering that Bosch said the detent system was fine, that should be a warning for future owners. I would suggest you at least test this saw before you buy it. Put the saw in a detent and see how much it still moves to the left or right.

Thank you Amazon for paying for the return shipping! If only Bosch had as good customer support.

5A real pleasure to use
By John A. Shaw
Have used for two home improvement jobs. One was crown moulding the other was oak hardwood on stairs. This was my first miter saw and I rate myself as a home owner with gumption to take on tasks beyond my skill level. This saw certainly helped with the projects and has more abilities than I do. I found it accurate and easy to use. Bought with the Bosch stand. It sure is nice to roll it outside to share sawdust wiht the neighbors and fold it up for storage.

3Detents are sloppy
By Brett Hail
Saw is typical high quality Bosch except for the detents have alot of play. I have to tighten up the grip in every detent to get consistent cuts. I will be taking it to a Bosch service center to see if it can hopefully be adjusted. If this can be fixed, the saw gets 5 stars. If not, the saw gets 1 star and Bosch better get me into the 12" saw that seems to be fine. I wasn't able to look at the 10" in any stores. I bought this saw figuring it was just like the 12", but with the smaller blade, you don't get the deflection in shaving off cuts in harder wood.
