5Very useful to help even out self-leveling floor compound.
By Boomer
When self-leveling floor compound is poured (always pour into the deepest area and then screed heavy components of the mix outward) into a whole floor application, typically a bathroom or other small room, and after the solution is pushed out to cover the whole area, I then start using the spiked roller to help settle out high spots of the heavy sediment and shake up the liquid solution to level out. Doing it this way, I have achieved wet surfaces of silvery liquid, definitely more level than hand screeding. I also do not have to walk onto the floor with spikes on shoes when using a long poled rubber screed and long poled spiked roller.

Use silicone caulk at the wall edges and other openings blocked with wood, including the doorway center, and then use painters Frog tape to mask the edges of walls to prevent solution splashes up the wall at the height of the expected result of the new floor. Be prepared to pull the tape as soon as you finish with the spiked roller. Calculate the most correct volume of solution you will need for a bathroom or other floor by taking the average height of coverage needed from the high point corner to the low point corner, usually at the diagonal mid point, and then calculate the cubic inches, etc., and then make a little extra should you need it. Remember, power mix with a drill attachment right up to the time of pouring, at high speed guarding for splashes, and it is still the heavy sediment that you must address, immediately when pouring, so I pour out half to more readily see where the heavy stuff is, and push it outward to spread into the lowest area first.
