I bought this to help build a doll house for a charity auction. Also looked at the Proxxon, but at 1/3 the price, this was the only reasonable choice. In contrast to another reviewer, no, full size tools are of little help on a project like this.

The good news about this item is that it quickly produces clean cuts in small stock, such as the basswood, pine and oak I have been working with on this project.

As on a full size chop saw, the primary operator movement is down into the stock and then back up. The stock is held firmly in a small vise, which in turn is attached to a table that rotates up to 45 degrees in one direction to allow bevels and other angle cuts. Moving a small interlock at the front of the handle allows the saw to be moved down to make cuts, with power controlled by a separate on off rocker switch.

The bad news about this item is the imprecise manufacturing, difficulty in ''aiming'' the cut, and very noisy operation.

The components themselves operate, but on items like the vise screw and the toothed drive wheels, manufacturing is to less precise tolerances than most other tools I own. (Other reviewers noted a breakdown after only a little use--I temporarily removed the belt cover on the left side of the tool to tighten the set screw in each of the drive wheels to secure them to their respective shafts. Operation has been trouble free since.)

My biggest disappointment with the saw is that there is no easy way to sight the blade against the cut. With the stock clamped in the vise, I've needed to repeatedly bring the non-moving blade down against the stock to see where it will hit, unclamp, readjust, and repeat until ready to cut. Some sort of adjustable work stop or even clear index on the table would be very valuable improvements to this design.

In operation, the saw is quite noisy and, unless clamped to the bench, tends to ''walk'' (a dedicated clamp is included in the box). It is small enough that the base can be steadied with one hand while the saw is operated with the other, and I expect I will mount it to a piece of 2x board as I have with my miniature table saw so it operates steadily but can still be moved around easily.

All in all, the saw makes cleaner, quicker cuts than a hobby saw miter box, but could be improved in design, manufacture, and operation. It has been helpful on my project, and would be a 4 or 5 star value if it were better made and easier to use.

Got it today, wow that was fast. Can't wait to start cutting down my 5.56 brass to make .300 AAC Blackout cartridges. I already have a jig in mind to support and hold the 5.56 brass to cut down to proper case length for the .300.. Thanks Amazon

Love it. Works great. Perfect size. Just what I was looking for. Would certainly recommend it for small crafty projects.
