5My thoughts...
By Frances Hernandez
This is a much better value than its Grizzly brother!(identical in every way except the shape of the lower storage cabinet, the direction the door opens and paint job) the machine performed as advertised and is a very well built beast, the chisel selection was weak, so i bought those Japanese premium ones from Grizzly and never looked back with the savings in price.I built a pair of teak ships grate with many mortises cuts through one inch thick teak! no problems, very accurate. Now for the stupid stuff... the thin metal curve gauge built into the table is flimsy and the printed number scale almost washed off with the solvent bath that is required to remove the shipping grease this machine is packed in the keep from rusting during shipment, also the small hex screw holding the depth stop was loose when it arrived. it is almost inaccessible behind a gas piston and needs a very narrow, almost flat plate wrench to tighten because any type will not fit because of the piston which must be removed to tighten. small detail stuff, not a deal breaker considering how far this machine traveled.the table slides side to side and fore and aft very nicely, shipping was so fast that i had to wait to use it cause i had no chisels to test the machine at the time. Very easy to assemble out of the crate although i separated the top part in two so that it was light enough for me to assemble alone.i owned this machine for a couple of months and wanted to use the machine before submitting this review. if you were considering this, go for it. I chose not to get the mobile base offered because the base has 4 mounting plates to fasten the machine to the floor which is necessary if you tilt the head, which in turn's makes the machine top heavy and a tipping hazard.

4HEAVY DUTY MACHINE
By S. Brady
Shop Fox Heavy Duty Mortising machine will hog though the wood. Has plenty of power. Precision machine with lots of features. I rated this 4 stars out of 5 due to the stops. The side to side stops need some improvement. They will loosen up and move if your doing several board with same measurements.
