Best deal for the price

Picked up the 15" model today at Rockler for $280. Assembly was a snap, about 20 minutes, one person operation but putting the top on should use two for safety. Very little cleaning of the cast parts required. Has same h/p(3/4) as the 16 1/2" and same chuck capacity(5/8"). Great feature is the built in work light, just pop in a 40-60 watt bulb. Work light has seperate switch on left side. Power switch right up front for easy access. Chuck-key holder is on the right. Easy speed changes.

Good with a few problems.

I purchased this model about 3 months ago, and have been using it since. Overall I can't complain too much. There are a few items that I do not like.
1. The whole assembly for the height adjustment is cheaply made and questionable. I wonder how long this will hold up if I have to rotate it too many times.
2. The chuck is junk, and the key is an absolute joke. The jaws on the chuck are very small, and will not grip a small round bit unless you rally crank down with the key. Which is a major problem considering that the key is the cheapest p.o.c. I have ever seen. It is too small for the chuck, and you absolutely cannot put sufficient clamping force into the chuck without stripping the key. I'm in the market for an aftermarket chuck, so if anyone knows of a good replacement please let me know.
Other than that, it's been a big upgrade over my dad's old craftsman floor model.

Great economical drill press

Built like a brick $&!t house. I bolted mine to a large, low platform for use in my carpentry shop. It has virtually no run out. Easy to set up. Nice big solid table with easy adjustments. Ive used it nearly daily and have no doubts that I will be able to pass this on to my children. Powered through some rock maple using a 2 inch forstner bit a few weeks back no problem. Buy with confidence
