Best Price - Hardin HWV316POLSET 3/16-Inch Radius Stone and Concrete 3/16-Round Bullnose Shaping and Wet Polishing Kit

Product Description

The stone workers need for quality tools has led to the evolution of the Hardin product line. The composition and characteristics of marble, granite, tile, and engineered stone differ dramatically from concrete. Achieve professional results when profiling and polishing stone counter tops and surfaces with the Hardin Variable Speed wet polisher. Ergonomically designed with a water delivery system that sits under the polisher. Simply hook the end of the 5-Feet 1/4-Inch water line to a standard 5/8-Inch garden hose as a water source. Lightweight enough at about 6.5 pounds with enough power to get the job done. This unit is equipped with a 950-Watt, 8.29-Amp, variable speed motor. Adjustable via a variable speed wheel switch located at the back of the polisher. You can operate from 2,000-4,000-RPM. When polishing, you get optimum results around 2,500-RPM. This kit is ideal, at higher-RPM, to shape the edge of a slab of granite, marble, tile, or masonry with the included vacuum brazed profile wheel. The profile wheel is simple to use. Works much like a router bit works. Has a flat surface that rides on top of the material being worked on. On the bottom of the vacuum brazed profile wheel, you have a guide bearing that rides up against the side of the material. Keeps the bit 100% true. Put the 1/2 round metal splash guard around the collar of the polisher. Then with nothing else on the arbor simply thread the vacuum brazed profile wheel onto the 5/8-InchX11 UNC thread arbor. Set polisher to the higher-RPM setting, turn water on low, power up the grinder, apply some force parallel with the working surface, and you're on your way to profiling your custom edge. This Hardin Variable Speed Polishing kit comes with a set of 7 premium diamond polishing pads. Start polishing with the 50-Grit pad and continue polishing with each successive-Grit until you achieve that factory shine.

5Nice tool. Works very well.
By Vortecks
Before using this polishing tool/kit, I'd never worked with natural stone tile. After spending thousands ... and thousands of dollars on home renovations, I decided to tile the kitchen backsplash myself with 12"x12" marble tile and it's impossible to find bullnose pieces. The bullnose shaping bit roughs things in very quickly. I had some chip out in a softer piece of marble, but with natural stone "things" are going to happen. Once roughed in, I worked 200 grit to polish out the rough in, and then 800, 1500, and 3000. The finished product is probably a deeper shine originally on the tile. I used it to polish a tile that had what appeared to be epoxy bleed through in a vein (seems like they epoxy weak spots on some tiles ... bummer). I might have polished all the tiles before installing them had I used this before starting the wall.

One thing to note is you need to be prepared to get wet, and for a relatively large area around you to get wet. Once you turn the water on and power up the tool, it flings water out quite a distance even with the water shroud in place. I ended up taking my Workmate out into the yard and working there (rubber shoes, rubber gloves, bathing suit :-) ). That said, I was able to work the tool from a vertical position to polish the edge to a horizontal position to smooth and polish the bullnose with not problems whatsoever. Noticed a bit of rust on the threaded piece that holds the disc after the first use even though I'd dried things, so I sprayed that with WD-40 after the second use and clean up.

Very happy with this so far. It will easily polish marble to a deep shine, and I assume granite and other products as well. Wish I could take it into the house!

5Great Tool
By People's Bank
I bought this tool to put a radius on the edge of granite tile and then to polish it to the same finish as the surface of the received tile. I was very happy with the results I got.
