A gift for my wife...I might let her use it.
By R. HENES
My wife came home after a group volunteer-pruning session and reported that one of her pruning friends had a cordless saw that made short work out of branches that were too big to lop. For the first time in our many years of marriage, she showed an interest in a power tool. After watching review videos for reciprocating saws, I bought her this DeWalt for her birthday. Left-handed present? I was honestly prepared to have her keep this saw with her gardening equipment and having to ask her permission to use it. I can't tell you how thrilled I was with the prospect of infecting my spouse with the passion of "tool" ownership. It came four days after ordered. I shared with her my experiences with "sawalls" and the joy of slicing through all sorts of stuff and expressed my willingness to assist her in her future cutting projects, but operation of this new saw lacked some of the manly ritual and strength requirements that we men rely on that make us indispensable...1. blade changing: the wrench, hand strength, and know-how have been replaced by a little lever. She had no problem installing the blade. 2. Weight: Three pounds? What the... 3. Adjustable handle: goes anywhere, fewer "too awkward" positions for which my superior strength (yeah, ok) would be needed. She may not need my help.
The one aspect of this saw that may be unsettling to my wife: its power. It is not a toy. So far, it hasn't slowed down during use. At full speed, it has a fast stroke. It is well designed. Grips are well positioned and cushioned with non-slip material. The LED work-light goes on with before the tool starts, with a slight pressure on the trigger. Not the case on my other lighted tools. The handle position is easily adjusted. The trigger can be locked to prevent accidental start-up. It's small and convenient. I have since used this saw on several of my remodeling projects (I asked for permission). It's a great tool. She will have to share. Advice: buy a second battery and don't get rid of your corded sawzall. You'll want to keep it as a loaner for your friends.

lots more uses than one would think
By charles j ewart
I bought this tool mostly because i already had the 12v system and batteries. I figured that even if it was a little weak and flimsy, i could use it to cut pipe, metal stock and wood trim on the jobsite. It has done that and lots more. it has not been weak or flimsy for me. the blade change is my favorite part- i can use it with gloves on and the blade comes out right away. the reversible blade is great as well- you can cut like a jigsaw. (although a really crude and rough one) the tiny batteries last a lot longer than i would expect and the tool slows down to tell you to pop in a fresh one. I have cut 2x4 lumber and 2" cast iron pipe with it. I'm sure that it's not recommended by dewalt, but i have used it to cut off the heads of rusted screws- the metal cutting blade is much easier for me to control than a cut-off wheel on my grinder and it does not need to be plugged in. this has become an everyday tool for me.

Great Little Saw.
By Curtis
I wanted a small reciprocating saw for around the house project. I had recently replaced a 14V Dewalt Drill with the 12V impact drill combo. So when I saw this was released I picked it up. I've used if for a few things already and love it. It's a great size and I'm sure it will handle about any home task.
