Good mid range saw
By William Lattanzio
I purchased this saw after having no luck with a Hitachi. I didn't immediately purchase the Bosch because firstly it wasn't in stock and secondly I don't use jigsaws much for woodworking. So after I returned the Hitachi I went out looking for the Bosch, having had good luck with them at several woodworking classes.
The saw is certainly powerful enough and tracked very nicely. I cut two arches for a bookcase and the saw did a nice clean job with minimal vibration. The saw is a bit heavy but I'll certainly take the added weight with the improved performance.
The saw's stroke depth is plenty for how I plan to use it, though on a more expensive saw it would be deeper. The blade change could not have been easier, a big plus.
Overall a good step up in quality from the less expensive saws without spending a fortune. Recommended.

Stronger than the last Bosch
By Thurm
I bought a Bosch jigsaw, barrel body, and it cut like a dream, but the deck and the guts just fell apart. I decided to try once more on this one with a handle, hoping to use my blades and take advantage of the smooth cutting. This one is good, but I felt like the barrel body gave you better control overall and was better for jig sawing. This one seems to be holding up better, though.

A great tool that's well made at a fair price!

I've shied away from using a jig saw for any precision wood working mainly because the jig saw I have is an old black & decker saw that the blade wanders on and it only has 2 speeds. I also mostly use a band saw but this Christmas I was building a quilt rack that had several curves and the piece was to large to manage on the band saw so I used this opportunity to purchase a better jig saw. The Bosch cut through 2" red oak like it was butter with out bogging down and the sides of the cut were square with no burning. I was able to cut up just shy of the line and finished with light sanding on my drum sander. The balance on the Bosch is just right for me and no vibration and the dust blower keeps the cut line clear for easy visibility. The quality and the price is awesome. I would have given it 5 stars but the saw doesn't have a light which isn't too bad because I have good lighting but in a darker area this could be a problem for some people. Amazon was fast on shipping as they always are and the packaging was good.
