I am a Paslode fan, I have 2 F-350S framing nailers, a cordless angled finish nailer, positive placement nailer, stapler, etc. I bought this gun thinking it would do the quick punch list type items without a compressor. This is the first Paslode product I didn't like.
First it holds one clip of nails vs. two in a normal framing nailer. That drives me crazy, instead of just throwing a new clip in during a pause when you start to get low, you have to run the gun out then add a new clip. The other thing about the nailer is the nail magazine is mostly plastic and somewhat crude. I noticed that sheathing nails jammed if you didn't load them just right. I had to use a small screw driver to push them back out and try again. This didn't happen with larger nails, but that is still disappointing.
The nose on this nailer is very large. The problem is it makes it harder to aim a precise shot. Compare the nose of this to the pneumatic framing nailer and you'll see what I mean. I hate nails that come out the side of a 2x and using a pneumatic nailer it rarely happens, using this it happens frequently because of the nose.
Toe nailing is terrible. The nose does have good sharp points that dig in well. However, as I mentioned above the nose is large so aiming the toe nail is inconsistent. Also, you have to change the depth of drive adjustment to get the toe nails to set, then change it back for flat nailing since that setting will cause an over penetration. Ugh.
Depth of drive. The feature does work well and you will be using it a lot. Flat nailing to toe nailing, change the depth. Framing to sheeting, change the depth. Pine to LVL, change the depth. It is ridiculous how much you have to change the depth on this gun. Further it is a trial and error process so you might have to make a couple of adjustments. That is a time waster and the work looks sloppy.
Anyway, in summary I believe the pneumatic is actually faster for 99% of all applications. Yes it takes time to set it up, but then to can fly. No depth adjustments. Toe nail, sheath, engineered, no problem just go.
This cordless was nothing but frustration for me.
If you buy it save the box until you use it a few times.

This cordless framer is light, powerful and well thought out. The fit and finish is excellent. It has some excellent feauters, including the new lithium battery which can be locked in the off position on the tool. This prevents battery drain, keeps dust and debris out of the battery housing and prevents the battery from getting lost or broken. The dept of drive adjustment is toolless and the nose piece has very sharp prongs which aid in toe nailing. The new quicklode fuel cells are easy to load and will drive 1,200 nails per cell. The battery will give one 6000 shots per charge and also has a power boost feature which will allow one to drive 200 nails after only two minutes in the charger, this is a handy get out of jail card. The battery fully charges in one hour which is a big improvement on the old 6V ni-cad battery. The blow moulded case is rugged and well designed with labelled compartmentalized storage. There is a place for everything including spare fuel cells, spare batterys, allen key, charger, charger base, no mar tip and user manual.
The cons with this tool as with all gas operated tools is the noise and the fumes. Ear defenders are a must and i would advise against using the gun in unvented confined spaces like some attics and basements. There's only one improvement i'd make to this tool and that would be to move the diagnostic LED on the handle. I'd move it higher up the handle so it isn't covered by ones hand when in use. I purchased a spare battery as the gun only comes with one. I'd advise any serious users to do the same, the kit should come with two batterys as standard. I haven't used the gun much since i purchased it but i have been very impressed with it's performance so far. I've used it to install some blocking and to frame a wall. It performed flawlessly and is the ideal tool for small framing jobs where a compressor and hose is a hassle and would take longer than the job itself to set up. Overall i'm very impressed and happy with my purchase.
This is an update to the above review, i used this gun to build an extension on to my workshop which i have nearly finished. This gun was used in conjunction with a pneumatic Makita framer to build the extension, the two guns complemented each other perfectly. The Paslode was ideal for nailing off rafters at the ridge and nailing off the ceilng joists which are nine feet off the floor. The pneumatic came into it's own for nailing the floor and wall sheeting. The Paslode performed flawlessly and i didn't get a single jam. I fired lots of bright smooth shank/ ring shank nails and hot dipped galvinised ring shank nails of variying lenghts without a problem. One thing i noticed was the fuel cells don't seem to last as long as advertised and likewise for the batteries. It would be interesting to field test this gun and see under average conditons how many nails one fuel cell would fire and how long the battery actually lasts. I think both would fall short of what is advertised by Paslode. This gun cannot be beaten for hassle free convience without the inconvenience and weight of a compressor plus the drag and snag of a hose but definetly would be too expensive to run/maintain as a front line framer. Overall i'm very pleased with my purchase.

This is exactly what I needed. Great nailer with added convenience of being cordless. Sometimes, you don't have time or power available to use a compressor. Yes, you can lug out your generator, but the time-saving convenience factor outweighs it big time. The product uses very little battery and is always ready when you need it. Nail packs are available with power-cell, which is guaranteed to fire all nails in the box. Overall very happy with this nailer.
